Robel & Hombrebueno

A Wedding in Liliw Laguna, 2 years ago!!!!!

Dr. Caryl Hembrebueno Robel was my first wedding in Liliw, Laguna. Sa di nakakaalam, Liliw Laguna is the home of the famous badong shoes, its perhaps known in the south... or ako lang nakakaalam nun, hehehe.... and they`re also known for low end slippers na good quality... in fact doc caryl have their own shoeline..
Nakilala ko si Doc, thru tita Mel Aro, tita mel was perhaps my first client in that place, her family actually owned the famous(again) ARABELLA, its a snack house na sosyal ang drama, pero sobrang mura ng mga food... To make the story short...
Thanks Doc Caryl for sending this picture...

Cocktail Dress: Oo nga pala, i remember na, kala ko diko migawa eh...
i made a halter gown for dr. caryl in tea shades... the dres...

Jerry & Jhanet

Pano ko nga ba nakilala si jerry and jhanet! Hay di ko na maalala. The first thing i remember was the design i made for her na nagustuhan nya kaagad...
On our first fitting, the fit was perfect, pero on her second and third fitting it was horrible... Pwess, binalik ko sya sa original design dahil sa kaartihan ko kong ano anong ginawa ko sa damit on our 2nd and 3rd fitting, only to find out na it was already unprincipled. As an artist(feeling) never kong kino compromise ang ART.... kaya with out her knowledge, i change the top part of her gown(shell) kasi sobrang deform na tala...

Ricky & Jill

Jill was another bride recommended by Imagine Nation, si erron yata ang nag recommend nito.... On our first meeting, she told me that she doesnt have idea about what silhouette fits her, pero gusto nya ng halter ang top. So i did sketch an empire line with sheer material at the upper part with flowing bottom, it has a detail at the back which is bow, arrow and driftwood..hehehe joke... of course not... syempre the usual bow, cascading lace in a diminishing manner....
Here`s the pics of that design.... thanks to ERRON OCAMPO of Imaginenation..

Tagaban & Bolofer

To make the story short.....

Nung una medyo dipa sya sigurado mag pagawa dahil ang layo nga naman nila, they`re from batangas that`s aside from the fact na pangalawa ko syang bride...
Thanks to Dr. Francisco dahil mukhang nakumbinsi nya si doctor cel para sakin magpagawa hehehehehe....

Ryan & Joanna

Jo and Ryan(sorry nauna name ng wife) maraming maraming salamat....

Reyes & Tamayo

Ritzi`s design was actually inspired from a collection of mounique lou.... originally she like`s the chinese bolero na sobrang cover yung upper part, but i convinced her na baguhin ang bolero dahil sobrang manang, pero ang skirt na layered bubble(which she like) ay ganun pa din....

Jay & Gracious

Jen Balanquit was the one who introduce Gracious to me, i don`t know if they meet already in person, parang magkapareho sila ng lugar (california, tama ba?).....

Kaya one year in the making ang gown na ito, pero may pag babago, meron na kaming design na napagkasunduan actually, at ang totoo nyan na i fit nya ito ng 2 beses dahil nagbakasyon sya dito last year for some wedding preps.... to make the story short... nabago ang lahat, we will start from the scratch dahil gusto talaga ni tos (payalaw nya) na silk duchess ang tela nya, kaya ayun email uli ng mga inspiration, gawa ng mac pattern and so on and so fort..
What we did is, i gave them the option na sila na bibili ng tela para di sobrang lumaki ang bill, di si mother ngayon ang kailangan mag biyabiyahi from bicol to manila ...

I remember the first time I met Cecil, there was a beautiful pina gown displayed on a mannequin, it was for one of his brides… Tapos I remember him freaking out about the skirt, and tore the whole skirt off. Apparently, he wasn’t satisfied with the skirt. I said “why, it already looked so beautiful!”. I realized right there and then, this was THE couturier that I can really trust with my wedding gown!

I first heard about Cecil thru Weddings@Work, an online forum for brides to be. As a hands-on bride, I searched and searched for my dream gown… naturally, I became more confused the more choices I had… until I decided to let Cecil design for me… I told him to design for me a gown that would best suit my body type, coz I didn’t want to push something that wouldn’t suit me naman… It was the...

Wendell & Kristine

Pwess, i made a callado pina abacca for him...

RJ & Trina

Trina is 2 blocks away from my store, pero di nya ako nakilala dahil mag kapitbahay kami, kundi thru w@w...

Jesse and Racquel thanks so much.
JUDE(erron) LOVE YOU TALAGA!!!!! THANKS FOR THE PICS

I`ve been waiting for this photos.... gusto ko kasi ang drama ng feathers sa bolero.... hehehhe...

But prior to that, sinabi nya sakin na dapat pupunta pa sila kay Veluz pagkatapos akong i meet, pero since ok na daw solve na daw sya sakin... Kaya go na sya sakin....
Kaya naman nung mag fit sya nung umuwi sya 2 weeks before her wedding... na windang sya dahil masikip ang fit ng gown nya... hehehehe, i told her not to worry dahil madaling gawan ng paraan yun... sinabi ko din na kailangan baguhin namin ang drama ng kanyang bolero, dahil halos pare pareho na sila...

Jayson & May

May was my bride from U.K. (tama ba?) basta overseas sya. hehehehe... Infact na windang ako sa fitting a week before her wedding.... I made a pattern right away and after 2 days pina fit ko kaagad sa kanya and thanks GOD.... the fit was PERFECT..... kaya i assured her, na 3 days before her wedding, tapos gown nya....

When we finally decided to get married, we did not know how hard it was to find the items we wanted for our Filipiniana themed wedding here in California. It is very fortunate that we are now in the Internet era where emails, vendor websites and forums like Weddings @ Work has helped us with finding exceptional vendors with their reviews and recommendations.

Before stumbling over W@W, I was forever looking thru bridal magazines and online stores for a gown that would be close enough to a “filipiniana” look but I was unfortunate in locating one :( Then as I was browsing thru some reviews in W@W, I have noticed a name that keep popping up with glowing reviews, with very satisfied customers and also have experience with working with overseas brides like me, and that was Cecilio Abad.
Melissa & Carl Napiza

Melissa was my 4th bride na ginawan ko ng bridal gown na naka base abroad...
pinadala sa kanya ang lining for her to fit, at dahil nga sa technology, we made our fitting thru webcam... then she took pictures of some of the adjustment...
At nung pinadala ko ang gown nya a month before her wedding, melissa`s comment was just, medyo masikip lang daw ang upper part (above the bust), i ask her if she can breath, sabi nya oo naman daw... sabi ko pa na kong i papa alter pa ba nya, sabi nya di na daw dahil it`s tolerable, so sabi ko, kailangan mong mag exercise ng todo todo para lumiit ang parting yan...

Great Couturier!

by lynn for users cecilioabad and lynnclarke

I didn't really know nor hear anything about Cecilio until I visited Paul Vincent's website. I was so desperate about having a bridal gown. I haven’t seen anything nice and cheap. Me being known as a frugal person didn't at all intend to have a bridal gown made for myself. I was even willing to buy a ready made one or better yet go to Divisoria, my motto, "The cheaper the better!”

Due to my curiosity I tried to drop an email to Cecilio after having read his very humble intro of himself in his website. I thought, "naku affordable to". He replied back, gave me a quote and I fainted. It's totally out of my budget and I always tell myself, "What am I going to do with the gown anyway? You wear it once and that's it!" Then I thought maybe I can set a budget and I'll see what he thinks. Well, he did meet my budget!

I visited his shop the same day I landed in the Philippines. To be honest, I actually...

Duncan & Lynn

Actually lyn was base in UAE, (tama ba?) basta s a middle east, ngayon para fabulous ang fitting i insisted that she has to fit
the lining since she went home for a short vacation, 5 araw lang yata yun eh..hindi naman ako magikero para gumawa ng gown na walang mali...hehehehehe, kaya ayon, we took her measurements before going to a beach in mindoro and she fitted her lining 6 hours perhaps before her flight goin back to UEA...
And here`s the pics of the not so rush fitting....hehehehehe,

Melchor & Irene

It was irene who inquire first thru email, sumunod nun si toto (palayaw ng groom) na ang nag follow up on design, shade etc, our first meeting was at caleruega, dahil since he worked in tagaytay as an engineer, i told him na magkita nalang kami sa church para makita nya ang bride ko that day.....and the rest is history....
This wedding is one year in the making.... can`t imagine from irene's first fitting last year, and when she arrive before holy week ay saka ko na realize na ikakasal na pala sila...Sa tagal naming nag exchange ng emails ni irene and texts with toto diko namalayan na nagkaroon ako ng panibagong kaibigan... i`ll truly missed them....

Cecil is a very talented, exceptionally gifted and
absolutely professional couturier but yet he remained
so humble.
I know its hard for Cecil to work for me since I am
based in USA. But of course thanks to internet we
were able to communicate. After several referrals
from relatives and my friend Dr. Caryl Robel, I asked
Cecil to create a gown for me. When Cecil sent the
sketch and the materials to be used, at first there is
some doubt if this would turn out good. But of course
never have I heard a bad review with his masterpiece
so I said to myself, this is his forte and I trust his
works and he knows best. And true enough as soon as I
arrived in Manila, I headed straight to his shop. I
was very overwhelmed because my gown is absolutely
gorgeous, it is beyond what I expected. With all of my
guests during the wedding, giving me a thumbs up an...
